We are ready

14.12.2017

The fog was an unexpected guest in today's downhill training, which was responsible for more than three hours of extra training time. FIS race director Markus Waldner apologized at the team captains’ meeting, for the prompt flag-down of Kjetil Jansrud: "From one moment to the other the fog thickened. It was necessary for safety reasons to stop the runner ".

A "Plan B” to let racers ski from the downhill to the Super-G start had already been hatched by Waldner and did luckily not get to fruition. Suddenly the fog bank cleared and the regular training could resume as planned.

The weather forecasts for the next few days look promising. The up to ten centimeters of fresh snow falling tonight will be removed from the racetrack by tomorrow morning. "Then there should be optimal conditions for the Super-G," said the FIS race director. "We are definitely ready for the race days" Waldner continued.

President of the Val Gardena/Gröden Organizing Committee Rainer Senoner highlighted the 50th anniversary celebration which will take place tomorrow evening in the Saslong Arena in the finish area. "A spectacular show is waiting for the athletes and the spectators that you can not miss," said Senoner. Further information about the show can be found here!

Tomorrow's Super-G will be opened by the Swiss Beat Feuz followed by Josef Ferstl from Germany.
