Andrea Ballerin wins FIS Giant Slalom
Today the fourth FIS race of the Raiffeisen Grand Prix series, a giant slalom, was held in Plan de Gralba near Selva/Wolkenstein. The Italian Andrea Ballerin prevailed in 2.43:38 minutes ahead of the two Swiss Lars Rösti (+0.22) and Marco Gämperle (+0.53).
The conditions were again ideal and more than 150 participants started. Outstanding was the performance of the Swiss, who captured six of the 12 podium finishes in four races. Lars Rösti stood out landing four times in the top three: 2nd in the downhill, in the first Super-G and in today's giant slalom and 3rd in the second Super -G. “I didn’t expect it to go so well but I was hoping for decent results” said Rösti after the last race. The 19-year-old from St. Stephan in the Bernese Oberland hopes these good results will lead to a spot in the European Cup. "Downhill and Super-G are my best disciplines." In the European Cup last year he competed in speed races in Reinswald and Wengen. His best result was a 15th place in Sarntal.
