It’s all systems go for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup in Val Gardena/Gröden on December 16 and 17, 2022. After the positive snow check on Saturday, the 55th Saslong Classic on the last weekend before Christmas was officially confirmed by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation.

The Ski World Cup on the Saslong will traditionally open on Friday, December 16 with the super-G. Meanwhile, on Saturday, December 17, the Classic downhill will take place, which will also be the 100th World Cup race in Val Gardena/Gröden. An anniversary that the organizing Saslong Classic Club will celebrate in a fitting manner and in the presence of high-ranking officials. FIS President Johan Eliasch, the Italian Minister of Sport Andrea Abodi, South Tyrol's Governor Arno Kompatscher and the President of the Italian Winter Sports Federation FISI Flavio Roda have already confirmed they will be in attendance.

The two races on the legendary Val Gardena/Gröden downhill slope will both start at 11:45 am. This is the same start time as for the two training sessions on Wednesday, December 14 and Thursday, December 15. Spectator interest in the anniversary races is enormous ten days before the first training run. For example, the VIP Saslounge Platinum on Saturday is already sold out.
