Innovation expected for Val Gardena/Gröden in 2020
Last week, the International Ski Federation FIS held its congress in Costa Navarino, Greece, discussing changes in the Ski World Cup. Innovation planned for Val Gardena/Gröden: a sprint downhill in December 2020.
The World Cup calendar for the next four years has been provisionally confirmed and Val Gardena/Gröden will continue to host two races on the weekend before Christmas. Under the leadership of Markus Waldner from Bressanone/Brixen (Italy), the FIS World Cup Committee discussed various ideas. In the season 2020/21 there should be a sprint downhill on the Saslong. The race will be held in two runs on a shortened track.
In addition, the new board of Club 5 was elected as part of the FIS Congress. The union of traditional World Cup organizers continues to be led by Srecko Medven from Kranjska Gora. Rainer Senoner is the newest vice president and shares this office with Peter Fischer from Garmisch / Partenkirchen and Peter Willen from Adelboden.
