Innovative security solutions: Studies have begun
Safety has always played a central role for the Saslong Classic Club. For decades, the organizers of the World Cup in Val Gardena/Gröden have been investing financial and human resources with great conviction to make the speed races on the Saslong even safer. An effort in which they are actively supported by the International Ski Federation FIS, Club 5, Dolomiti Superski and most recently the South Tyrolean NOI Techpark.
This also applies to the current project, which covers several areas such as safety nets. Recently, extensive tests were carried out on the Saslong. FIS Race Director Markus Waldner was also personally present. The efforts were led by Nicola Petrone, Professor of Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Padova.
"We want to find ever more innovative safety solutions that minimize the risk of injury to athletes. These solutions and findings should not only benefit us, but also all organizers of ski races. Together with the South Tyrolean NOI Techpark, we have launched an ambitious project on this topic for the future and have now taken the first steps. The FIS, Club 5, Professor Petrone from the University of Padova, Dolomiticert and of course our partner Dolomiti Superski share our vision of skiing always safely. There will be further tests in October” Rainer Senoner, President of the Saslong Classic Club concludes.
