It’s all coming together in the media center

17.12.2019

As in previous years, the press center for the Ski World Cup in Val Gardena/Gröden is once again located in the gymnasium of St. Cristina. The centrally located building acts as the first point of contact for all media people during the race week and is now slowly filling up.

By Saturday, a total of 300 journalists from 15 different countries are expected in Val Gardena/Gröden. While the majority of media representatives come from the classic ski nations Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Norway or Italy, journalists from Japan and Lebanon are also accredited for the races on the Saslong. In any case, proper television coverage is guaranteed: More than 120 of the almost 300 media representatives cover television and as such guarantee that spectacular pictures from the heart of the Dolomites are broadcast live around the world.

It’s still relatively quiet on Tuesday in the gymnasium of St. Christina but this will change starting on Wednesday, when the first training run for Saturday’s classic downhill race is on the agenda - and with this the press centre is also expected to fill up rapidly. "The journalists are currently slowly trickling in. Most will arrive on Wednesday," says Evi Hilpold, who has been head of the media centre since last year. In addition to flawless organization, a pleasant working atmosphere is paramount for her: "We try to create a comfortable atmosphere in which all media people feel comfortable. Everyone who comes to work here for a living should enjoy it."
