“It's great to be able to count on a team like this”
The 57th edition of the Saslong Classic leaves lasting impressions on fans, athletes and organizers. OC President Rainer Senoner takes stock in an interview.
Mr. Senoner, the 57th edition of the Saslong Classic is history. How would you sum it up?
Rainer Senoner: “We have great World Cup races behind us. Our team worked hard in the run-up to this event and during the week itself, and it paid off. Each and every one of them contributed to the success with their commitment. We can all be very proud of that.”
After the snowfalls during the night from Thursday to Friday, the super-G was in jeopardy. Nevertheless, it was possible to hold a race.
Senoner: “Fortunately, we have a very experienced team, and this routine is invaluable. This was particularly evident on Friday when we managed to put on a race despite the challenging snow conditions. Our course crew did a sensational job. It's great to be able to count on a team like this.”
After the World Cup is before the World Cup. Do you already have the next edition in mind?
Senoner: “Of course – the preparations for next year's World Cup actually start today. We always strive to improve. That's why we'll be working on further refinements for 2025 to take the quality of the event to an even higher level. When we look ahead, we are focusing on the 2031 World Ski Championships. The World Championships are an absolute highlight for us, and we are very proud to be hosting them. Until then, we will use the experience we gain from the World Cup races to be prepared for everything that the World Championships will demand from us.”
Would you like to add anything in conclusion?
Senoner: “I would like to thank our entire team. Everyone has done a great job, and without their combined efforts, a World Cup would not be possible. Now we are looking forward to the next editions.”
