Local hero Dominik Paris opens the super-G
On Thursday evening, the starting bib numbers for the super-G on the Saslong were assigned during the team captains' meeting.
The race on Friday will be opened by Dominik Paris from the Ulten valley. The 31-year-old will be the first of a total of 59 athletes to take on the 2,165-meter course at 11:45 am. The wearer of the red jersey, Mauro Caviezel (Switzerland), will race with bib 7, last year's winner Vincent Kriechmayr from Austria will follow shortly after with bib 9.
The Norwegians Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and Kjetil Jansrud have bibs 13 and 15, respectively - the two Scandinavians are among the hottest contenders for victory after their strong performances in the training and not least because of their extremely successful track record on the Saslong in Val Gardena/Gröden. The top group is rounded out by an athlete from South Tyrol: Christof Innerhofer is the last of the top racers with the number 20.
The other South Tyrolean racers who will tackle the super-G alongside Paris and Innerhofer follow with starting numbers beyond the top 30: Riccardo Tonetti from Bolzano has number 33, Florian Schieder from Castelrotto number 48.
As for the Americans, Ryan Cochran-siegle and Travis Ganong are starting back-to-back in the top group with bibs 16 and 17, respectively followed by Bryce Bennett with bib 42 and Jared Goldberg with bib 57.
