No downhill training on Thursday
While the second training run for the downhill classic is scheduled for Wednesday on the Saslong, there will be no training on Thursday. This was announced by the organizers of the Val Gardena/Gröden race week at the second team captains' meeting on Tuesday evening in Selva/Wolkenstein.
The decision to cancel Thursday's training session was taken after the first training run on Tuesday, which went off without a hitch. “We had a very good, productive training session. We were able to complete our program according to plan, and fortunately there were no falls either,” reported FIS Race Director Markus Waldner, adding: “The speed was certainly not high, but the slope will get faster from run to run.”
Heinz Kabusch, who is serving as FIS Technical Delegate in Val Gardena/Gröden, also spoke of a “successful training session”. At the same time, he thanked Rainer Senoner, President of the Saslong Classic Club, and his team for their excellent work on and around the piste.
The second and final downhill training session on Wednesday starts at 11:45 am. The training will be opened by Miha Hrobat from Slovenia.
