One new and two old acquaintances

03.12.2018

Nils Mani, triple winner of the "Raiffeisen FIS Challenge" in Val Gardena/Gröden, Miriam Kirchler, victorious for the second time, and Federico Paini from Italy could cheer today. They all won a super-G on the 'Piz Sella' track in Plan de Gralba, Selva/Wolkenstein.

This has been a fruitful weekend with three victories on three consecutive days for the Swiss Mani: after the two downhill runs, he was also successful in the second super-G. He won ahead of Lars Rösti, who is clearly vetted to 2nd place in Val Gardena/Gröden. In 2017 and 2018, he captured this result five times: "It was never enough to win, but the results show that I like the track" said the 21-year-old from Lenz in the Bernese Oberland.

The only one who could defeat Mani on the three days was Federico Paini - he was only six hundredths faster than the Swiss runner-up. Paini is 23 years old and belongs to the Italian B-team. He is thrilled to be part of the World Cup this year.

Miriam Kirchler from Ahrntal set the best time in the ladies’ again. She relegated Lena Wechner and Sabrina Simader, who lives in Austria and starts for Kenya, to second and third place, respectively. Simader became famous last winter in Pyeongchang as she was the first Kenyan to take part in the Olympic Winter Games.
