"Raiffeisen FIS Challenge": Three winning faces

02.12.2018

Today, three more "Raiffeisen FIS Challenge" races took place on the 'Piz Sella' track in Plan de Gralba near Selva/Wolkenstein. In the men's downhill, Nils Mani (Switzerland) repeated his victory of the day before, in the ladies' races the Italian Ilaria Ghisalberti and the South Tyrolean Miriam Kirchler won.

The conditions at the three races were very good. Miriam Kirchler from Weißenbach in the Ahrntal valley in South Tyrol, who won one race and once finished second, was happiest. This was the fifth gold for the 22-year-old, the first downhill after four giant slaloms. “This is not my favorite discipline, but I like to take this downhill victory because it gives me a feeling for speed and helps me with the technical races" said Kirchler.

The first ladies' downhill race was won by 18-year-old Ilaria Ghisalberti from Bergamo. "This victory is an important step forward" said the winner, referring to her promising young career. Also two times on the podium and both times directly behind Kirchler placed Vanessa Nussbaumer from Vorarlberg in Austria.

Nils Mani brought home his second victory. The Swiss won again in front of compatriot Cedric Ochsner. Third place went to Florian Schieder, a local hero. The 22-year-old comes from nearby Castelrotto and is regarded as one of the greatest hopes of the Italian downhill team.
