Rainer Senoner is the new president of Club5
A new board was elected at the Club5 workshop in Madonna di Campiglio on Monday. In future, Rainer Senoner, President of the Saslong Classic Club and Race Director at the World Cup in Val Gardena, will be in charge of the association of classic World Cup venues. 19 organisers are now members of Club5.
Senoner replaced the previous president Srečko Medven at the helm of Club5. The Slovenian, who is Managing Director of Kranjska Gora, was at the helm of the association for a total of 14 years from 2010, making him the President with the longest term of office to date. Rainer Senoner has already served as Vice President of Club5 in recent years and will now set the new direction. The new President will be assisted by three Vice Presidents. These are Ole Kristian Kirkerud (OC Kvitfjell), Thomas Rechberger (OC St. Moritz) and Jan Überall (OC Kitzbühel).
‘I would like to thank Srečko Medven for his tireless efforts over the past almost one and a half decades, as well as the previous Vice Presidents. We now have an exciting time ahead of us. After all, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation FIS wants to market the TV rights centrally in future. My aim is to strengthen co-operation with the FIS and, of course, to stand up for our members wherever necessary,’ said the 57-year-old from Wolkenstein.
Club5 was founded in 1988. The five classic World Cup downhill races in the Alpine region of Kitzbühel, Wengen, Garmisch, Val Gardena and Val d'Isère were to be bundled under one name and marketed together. In addition, the high quality of these events was to be better communicated in the media. Over the years, further organisers have joined. Today, the association consists of 19 members. These are the World Cup organisers Adelboden, Alta Badia, Åre, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Crans-Montana, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Gröden, Jasna, Kitzbühel, Kranjska Gora, Kvitfjell, Madonna di Campiglio, Maribor, Schladming, Soldeu, St. Moritz, Val d'Isère, Wengen and Zagreb.
