Several VIPs to be guests in Val Gardena/Gröden
In addition to numerous ski fans, the speed classics on the Saslong are also expected to attract a number of celebrities. Several well-known personalities from sports and politics have announced their attendance at the races at the foot of the Sassolungo/Langkofel.
As far as the International Ski Federation (FIS) is concerned, President Johan Eliasch, Secretary General Michel Vion and member of the Council Aki Murasato will be making an appearance in Val Gardena/Gröden. The 74-year-old has always been a big fan of the Val Gardena/Gröden race week and also strongly supports the World Cup candidacy for 2029.
The South Tyrolean governor Arno Kompatscher is also stopping by for a side trip in Val Gardena/Gröden. Kompatscher is a member of the honorary committee of the Saslong Classic and has been a welcome guest at the speed events for years.
Austrian Franz Klammer and the Italian Kristian Ghedina, two absolute skiing legends, are also following the races live on the Saslong. Klammer and Ghedina have each won the downhill in Val Gardena/Gröden four times during their active racing careers and are thus still the current record holders in this discipline.
