Switzerland dominates FIS Downhill
The Raiffeisen Grand Prix downhill ended with a Swiss double victory in Plan de Gralba, Selva today. On the Piz Sella slope, Marco Kohler from Meiringen near Bern clocked the fastet time with 1:34.36 ahead of his compatriot Lars Rösti (+0.19) and the Italian Davide Cazzaniga (+0.29).
186 racers competed in cold but ideal conditions. "This victory comes unexpectedly, but it is a sensational start to the season and a wonderful preparation for this year's Junior World Championships in Davos," said the winner after the race. Kohler turned 20 a few days ago and has already competed in some European Cup races last year. So far he has been able to win two FIS races in his home country, namely a downhill in Stoos and a slalom in Schönried.
Tomorrow, two Super Gs will take place on the same course, followed by a giant slalom on Sunday.
