"The entire team has done an excellent job"

18.12.2020

At the fourth and last team leaders' meeting of the race week in Val Gardena/Gröden, the last details for the downhill classic on Saturday were finalized and first words of gratitude were also expressed to the organization team of the 53rd Saslong Classic.

The president of the Saslong Classic Club, Rainer Senoner, spoke of a "very good super-G" and used the meeting to send his congratulations to the successful nations in the super-G: "I would like to congratulate the Norwegians and Switzerland on their podium finishes. Now we are looking forward to an exciting downhill."

FIS Race Director Markus Waldner joined the congratulations and found only words of praise for the course work: "The course was very beautiful and the track in top condition. The new start also worked very well. All in all, the race went off without incident." Now, he said, the track will be spruced up for the downhill, and the last of the blue paint from the super-G course will also have to be removed. "The night and Saturday should be quite cold, which in and of itself is not a bad thing," Waldner said.

Finally, Waldner thanked the entire organization team for the "super job" before and during the race week. "The current situation brings with it a lot of extra work, but the OC team has done a great job," the FIS Race Director concluded.
