Val Gardena Südtirol Ski Trophy: will “Odi” triumph again?
For the tenth time, the fastest racer in Val Gardena will receive a special award. The winner of the Val Gardena Südtirol Ski Trophy receives a life-like 3D wooden bust, €5,000 in prize money, a short vacation in the valley, and the opportunity to climb the Sassolungo mountain with an experienced local guide.
Val Gardena is considered one of the birthplaces of alpine skiing. Since 1969, the Saslong Classic has contributed greatly to this reputation, together with the 1970 World Championships and the valley’s continuing commitment to exceptional race organization. This excellence was further recognized when Val Gardena was awarded the 2031 Alpine Ski World Championships.
The Val Gardena Südtirol Ski Trophy goes to the athlete who collects the most World Cup points on the Saslong. Ties are resolved by best individual race result, and if still tied, by the result in Saturday’s downhill. The defending champion is Marco Odermatt, who won the award for the first time last year. Aleksander Aamodt Kilde holds the record with four titles (2022, 2020, 2018, 2017).
