The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) announced on Friday that a third speed race will take place as part of the 58th Saslong Classic in Val Gardena on the last weekend before Christmas.

The Men's Ski World Cup is hold in Beaver Creek this week. In Colorado (USA), the originally planned race programme cannot be completed in full. A second downhill was cancelled. This race will be made up for in Val Gardena, which will step in as a replacement venue. A sprint downhill race will take place on Thursday, 18 December. This sprint downhill race will open the 58th Saslong Classic. The Super-G will take place on Friday, 19 December, and the classic downhill on Saturday, 20 December. All races start at 11.45 am.

"I am, of course, very sorry for our colleagues in Beaver Creek. It is always very painful when a race cannot be held. For us, this means that, as in 2022 and 2023, we will have a total of three speed events on the Saslong. I would like to thank not only the FIS for their vote of confidence, but also all our stakeholders for their swift support in this exceptional situation" says Rainer Senoner, President of the Saslong Classic Club.
