"Very good first training”

15.12.2021

On Wednesday evening, the second team captains' meeting took place in Selva/Wolkenstein. The focus was on the today’s first downhill training as well as tomorrow’s final training.

FIS technical delegate Hans-Peter Auernig thanked everyone present for the good training run. "We have had a smooth first training session with no issues at all," commented Auernig.

FIS Race Director Markus Waldner agreed with Auernig and went into a bit more detail when analyzing the course. "The Ciaslat is a bit different every year. The waves there are created artificially onto the course with snow cats - so it takes two training sessions for the athletes to find their way around. In the final section, there is a jump after the so-called 'Canalino', where we will move the gate a bit to give the riders more space. On the other hand, there is no need to work on the finish jump, it works," said Waldner.

Looking at the current forecasts, the weather should not have a negative impact on the rest of the race week. While no wind is forecast for the final training, it could be slightly windy for the super-G on Friday. For the downhill classic on Saturday, exact forecasts are still too uncertain. The second training run on Thursday will be opened by local favorite Dominik Paris from Ulten.

The training, which will be broadcast live by the TV channel "Eurosport", will start at 11:45 am.

The complete start list of the final training is available here.
