Clear the stage for the 56th Saslong Classic in Val Gardena

In the 2023/24 season, the ski world can once again look forward to one of its true World Cup classics next week. And a triple-edition at that: A downhill race that was canceled in Zermatt-Cervinia will be hosted on the Saslong on Thursday, 14 December, before the original program is held with the super-G on Friday, 15 December and the downhill on Saturday, 16 December. Once again, everything is in place for the big South Tyrolean ski festival.

Val Gardena/Gröden re-confirmed in the FIS World Cup calendar

Dubrovnik, 31 May 2019 - In recent days, the International Ski Federation FIS held the traditional calendar conference. This time, the many sub-committees and working groups met in Dubrovnik, Croatia - with a more than satisfactory result for the organizers of the speed races on the Saslong.

Marc Gisin: "You saved my life"

Marc Gisin crashed on 15 December 2018 during the World Cup downhill on the Saslong and was seriously injured. About five months later, the Swiss returned to Val Gardena/Gröden last weekend to personally thank the organizer and the medevac rescue team Aiut Alpin for the formidable rescue and first aid.

VIST dresses the Val Gardena/Gröden World Cup

A special partnership was introduced today at the trade fair in Bolzano/Bozen. The Saslong Classic Club and the winter sports supplier VIST presented their cooperation at the Prowinter fair. Among other things, VIST will provide the Val Gardena/Gröden OC with the official equipment for the next two years. This was announced by Paolo Chiarino, CEO of VIST, and Rainer Senoner, OC President.

Bravo Dominik Paris, Bravo Beat Feuz

At the World Cup Final in Soldeu, Andorra, the crystal ball trophies were awarded to the best skiers in each individual discipline. The Swiss Beat Feuz triumphed in the downhill and South Tyrolean Dominik Paris in the super-G.

The Saslong Classic Club is thrilled with the freshly crowned world champions in the fast disciplines. Dominik Paris won the Super-G in Are, Sweden, and Kjetil Jansrud the downhill - both have also had great successes in Val Gardena/Gröden.

Great joy clouded by a drop of sadness

On Saturday, the men's 2018 speed races on the Saslong concluded with a downhill victory for Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. On Tuesday, 18 Dezember and Wednesday, 19 Dezember, two ladies’ races took place for the first time in Val Gardena/Gröden and all went well. Ilka Stuhec from Slovenia won both races. Rainer Senoner, President of the Organizing Committee of Val Gardena/Gröden can look back on a successful week of racing in ideal conditions for both ladies and men.
