The reason why: A common goal
With a common goal in mind, we are working with passion, enthusiasm, and motivation to make our big dream come true. We want to bring back the title competitions to our snow, our mountain, and our valley 59 years after the last Alpine World Ski Championships in Val Gardena/Gröden. Innovation meets passion and tradition.
Skiing is at home here in the heart of the Dolomites. Here includes the three communities of Val Gardena/Gröden, including Selva/Wolkenstein, St. Cristina, and Ortisei/St.Ulrich, which lie at the feet of the majestic Sassolungo mountain. We have already accumulated experience in the past decades by organizing the World Cup races - but now, we would like to take it a step further and invest in the legacy for our future generations. Val Gardena/Gröden is not only home to one of the most successful ski clubs in Italy, but also to numerous athletes who have celebrated international successes: Isolde Kostner, Carletto Senoner, Peter Runggaldier, Alex Giorgi, Werner Perathoner and many more. Also from Val Gardena/Gröden are Alex Vinatzer and the sisters Nadia and Nicole Delago. All of them are currently members of the Italian national team and stirring up the World Cup. They are the ones who brought and continue to bring the name of Val Gardena/Gröden and the passion for skiing to the international skiing world. In 2029, it will be the other way round - we would like to be able to invite skiing enthusiasts from all parts of the world to join us. At the same time, we will allow our young athletes to experience a World Championship on their home turf.
Val Gardena/Gröden is preparing to candidate for a top-class sports event that will strongly support the promotion of alpine skiing. Of course, the valley itself will be enhanced but so will also be skiing itself - including its leading actors, the athletes.
