World Cup to remain in Südtirol and Trentino

World Cup races will continue to be held in Gröden / Val Gardena, Alta Badia and Madonna di Campiglio (Trentino)...

... according to internet news service Südtirol Online.
This is what has been agreed upon by Mr. Luis Durnwalder, Governor of Südtirol, FIS President Mr. Gian Franco Kaspar, FISI President Mr. Gaetano Coppi and Mr. Tiziano Mellarini, Secretary of Tourism of Trentino on Friday. “We aim to create a coordinated ski event in the Dolomites, which will also be marketed as such.” says Mr. Durnwalder after a meeting which also included Mr. Richard Weissensteiner, Chairman of the Winter Sport Association of Südtirol.
The fear of losing the race in Madonna di Campiglio to Alta Badia, as voiced by the region of Trentino, are thus no longer an issue. “Potential speculations are not based on decisions by the International Ski Association FIS” clarifies Mr. Kasper. “We will work closely with the FIS to coordinate all three venues” comments Mr. Durnwalder. Calendars and events will be fine tuned among both Südtirol and Trentino, the two Italian regions involved.
